Livingston Aviation Instructors
Kami Axtell is the newest addition to the Livingston team of instructors. Kami comes to us from the Universtiy of Dubuque where she graduated with BA's in Aviation Management and Flight Operations. Kami is currently working to implement our new Part 141 flight school. Kami is is available for all of your ground and flight instruction needs.
Kent Gibson is an experienced pilot with a background in corporate aviation. Kent has flown for several local corporations and most recently flew the King Air 350 for a manufacturing company. Kent is our chief pilot for the Part 135 Charter operation and is also available by appointment for flight training.
Mel Hemann is an Airline Transport Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor for Airplane Single Engine, Multi-Engine, and Instrument Airplane. Mel is also an EAA Flight Advisor and qualified to provide tail-wheel instruction and endorsements. Mel was featured in Business and Commercial Aviation magazine. He owns and flies his own RV-6 aircraft, which he has landed in 49 states. He is working on how to get to Hawaii, to make it an even 50. Mel has over 45 years of flying experience and over 7200 hours of instruction. Mel is available for instruction any time during the week by appointment.
Chris Preston holds flight instructor certificates for single engine land and instrument training. Chris attended Iowa Lakes Community College majoring in aviation. Chris is available for flight instruction by appointment.
Tim Newton is an experienced pilot, holding an Airline Transport Pilot rating and is a flight instructor in both fixed wing and helicopters, as well as a certified Airframe and Powerplant mechanic. Tim's background includes flying as Chief Pilot for a local corporation in their Cessna Citation Bravo, as well as aerial application in both Air Tractors and Bell 47 helicopters. Tim is qualified as a tailwheel instructor and has experience in a number of vintage and warbird aircraft, as well as most modern single and multi-engine aircraft. Tim is also qualified as a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot.
